Week 1 & Week 2

Its time to reflect. Please post your reflections on the following question.

1.)At this point in our study, how would you define Differentiated Instruction?

2.)What has really made you say WOW during these last 2 meetings?

At this point in time differentiated instruction means to teach the students using different methods and enhancing instruction by meeting their individual learning styles. It does not mean lowering expectations, it fact it means to have higher expectations.

My Ah! moment was the organization approaches the teachers use and yet still puting the responsibility to learn on the shoulders of the students.

at this point I am thinking that DI means providing educational oppertunities for students that meet their learning styles and intrests.

My WOW so far has been that a lot of what I already do fits into DI.

OH YA, blog stands for "web log"
do I win the dollar?!?!?!

I agree with sulumasa and gigi on Differentiated Instruction. High expectations....I really like. Educational opportunities, learning styles and interests....yea.

My wow moment was the integration of the technology. Especially right now using the blog. I am excited to see what others post. This is my first post to a blog.

I beieve DI is using a variety of teaching methods to reach each students individual learning style. We don't have to lower standards; we have to give our students the tools they need to reach our standards.
My wow - I think I already differentiate in my classroom. This is my first blog, too. It's a good thing we had a snow day because it took me 8 hours to figure this thing out. Just kidding:)

Differentiated Instruction (to me) means meeting the needs of every single student in my classroom. It means discovering their individual interests to find out what motivates them. It also means investigating to find each child's learning stlyes and using methods/activities to teach to allow all students to succeed.

My WOW! moment was realizing that I am currently using some DI already in my classroom.

I had to come back and read the comments. Interesting!

I also felt good knowing that I use some of these techniques and just need to push myself to continue to do so.
